About Us
The Pastures Campground had its humble beginning as an open field in the late 70’s. Tom and Dot Parkington opened their lovely property in Orford, New Hampshire to friends and neighbors who asked for a place to pitch their tents and park their campers. Soon kayakers and canoers followed suit, marking The Pastures as a favorite resting place along the river. Over time, the small outhouse Tom built to accommodate the few passers-by was replaced by full working restroom facility. Electricity, running water, a sewage system, and docks were also added and thus the campground grew.
Today the campground is run by Byron and Laurel, Tom and Dot’s son-in-law and daughter. More often than not, you will find Byron on the grounds doing the odd job or chatting with campers. Laurel runs a children’s consignment shop, which serves as the campground office during the camping season.
At the Pastures Campground, we offer a peaceful and quiet family-oriented camping facility for RVs, tents, and canoe and bicycle groups. Our campers enjoy the use of our rental canoes, kayaks and pontoon boats, our pavilion and multipurpose room, horseshoe pits, family playground and our heated swimming pool. And don’t forget our clean rest rooms, free dump station and free Wi-Fi!
We hope we will see you this camping season at the Pastures Campground, where the old outhouse still stands and reminds us of Tom and Dot and of simpler times.
